Frequently asked questions
Does SMDownloader convert Reels to MP3?
We return the audio file Instagram exposes for that public URL — usually M4A or an MP4 with an embedded AAC track. Convert to MP3 on your device if you need that format.
Can I download original audio from a Reel?
Yes, when Instagram publishes original-sound or licensed-music metadata on the public post. If only the video stream is available, we expose the muxed audio from that MP4.
Why is there no audio for my link?
Photo posts, private accounts, and login-walled URLs do not return audio. The post must be a public reel or video you can open without signing in.
