Instagram reels, posts, stories, and audio
Paste a public reel, /p/ post, /tv/, or live story link — or pick a format tool below for reels, audio, story, photo, or carousel downloaders. Private and login-only posts will not work.
Paste a link
Already have a public Instagram URL? Paste it on the homepage to preview and save.
Which Instagram downloader do I need?
Match what the link points to, not the app you copied it from.
- Reel — A vertical instagram.com/reel/… link, with the original audio.
- Feed video or IGTV — A regular /p/ or /tv/ post that's a video, not a photo.
- Audio only — You only want the soundtrack from a reel or video, not the picture.
- Story — An instagram.com/stories/… link — grab it before the 24-hour window ends.
- Single photo — A /p/ post that's one still image.
- Carousel — A /p/ post with multiple photos or videos swiped through in one slideshow.

Common questions
Can I save from a private account?
No. The post must be public — if you need to log in to see it, SMDownloader cannot fetch the file.
Where is the instagram reels downloader?
Use the Reels downloader in the format tools on this page. Paste a public instagram.com/reel/… link from Share → Copy link, preview the MP4, then save — same homepage paste field works too.
Where is the instagram story downloader?
Open the Story downloader below for instagram.com/stories/… links. Stories only resolve while they are still live — copy Share → Copy link and download before the 24-hour window ends.
How does the instagram audio downloader work?
Use the Audio downloader for reel or video posts when you only need the soundtrack. SMDownloader returns M4A or muxed audio from the public file Instagram exposes — a social media audio downloader for instagram.com links, not private music library tracks.
Photo posts and carousels?
Use the Photo downloader for single-image /p/ posts and the Carousel downloader when the post has multiple slides. One /p/ link covers every slide — save each file from the preview list.
Reels, feed posts, and stories — same steps?
Yes. Copy the share link for whichever format you are viewing. Pick the matching format tool when you want tailored help — stories only work while they are still live.
Do I need the Instagram app?
No. Desktop instagram.com links work the same way. Open the post in a browser tab and copy the URL from the address bar or Share → Copy link.
