Tracking parameters like ?xmt=… are fine — paste the post link exactly as copied. Profile URLs alone are not supported.
Text-only posts, private accounts, and deleted content will not return a file. If a post has multiple attachments, the preview lists each file — save the ones you need. Only save content you own or have permission to download.
Where files save
After you confirm a save, the file goes to your browser's default download location — usually Downloads on desktop or your photo gallery on mobile. SMDownloader does not host or email files.

Common questions
How do I save a Threads video to my phone gallery?
Tap Share → Copy link on a public post with video, paste the threads.com URL above, click Download, preview the MP4, then save it. On iPhone, tap Save from the preview so the clip lands in Photos; on Android, check the Downloads folder or Files app and move it to your gallery.
Does this work without a Threads account?
Yes. You do not need a Threads (Instagram) account and SMDownloader never asks you to log in. The only requirement is that the post is publicly viewable — open the link in an incognito window to confirm before pasting it here.
Do both threads.com and threads.net links work?
Yes — both hostnames serve the same public posts, so whichever URL your browser or share sheet provides works here. Tracking parameters like ?xmt=… are accepted; profile-only URLs are not.
Can I download videos from private Threads accounts?
No. If a post needs a login to view — private accounts, followers-only posts, or deleted content — our servers cannot fetch the file either. Public post links only.
Can I save images from the same post?

Why did my Threads video link fail?
