How to copy a Bluesky link on desktop — step by step

    Open the Bluesky post in your browser

    Go to bsky.app in Chrome, Safari, Firefox, or Edge and open the public post you want to save. The address bar should show /profile/handle/post/ in the path — not a profile, feed, or search page.

    Copy the address bar URL

    Click the browser address bar, select the full URL, and copy it with Ctrl+C (Windows/Linux) or Cmd+C (Mac). The copied bsky.app URL should look like https://bsky.app/profile/handle.bsky.social/post/POST_ID.

    Remove extra parameters (optional)

    If the URL contains optional tracking parameters after ?, you can paste it as copied or trim those params. SMDownloader handles both.

    Open www.smdownloader.com in a new tab, paste the copied Bluesky URL into the download field, and click Download. Preview the video or image, then save the file to your computer.

To save one attachment, paste a bsky.app URL with /post/ in the path. Profile-only links (bsky.app/profile/HANDLE) are not supported on the paste field — open the specific post first, then copy the address bar link.

Do bsky.app and www.bsky.app URLs both work?

Yes. Both hosts resolve to the same public post. Copy whichever URL your browser shows in the address bar and paste it on SMDownloader without changing the host.

Can I copy a link from a private Bluesky account?

No. The post must be public. Test in an incognito window — if Bluesky asks you to log in, the copied URL will not work on www.smdownloader.com.
