TROUBLESHOOTING
Wrong file type or quality
What to expect from previews — and when a different URL or tool page helps.
- 01
Understand best available quality
SMDownloader returns the highest quality the public post exposes — not a remastered 4K file. Platforms often cap resolution for web playback or strip separate audio tracks.
- 02
GIFs and stickers save as video
Animated GIFs on X and similar networks are delivered as MP4 files. The preview may label them as video even when they looked like GIFs in the app.
- 03
Carousels and playlists list multiple files
Instagram carousels and SoundCloud playlists show one entry per slide or track after preview. Save each file you need — there is no single ZIP download.
- 04
Pick the right tool page when formats differ
Reels, Watch videos, Shorts, and audio-only posts use different URL shapes. Open the matching platform or format page for examples before you paste.

Common questions
Why is the video blurry?
The platform may only expose a lower rung on its CDN ladder for that post. We cannot invent pixels that were not in the public stream.
I wanted audio only — why did I get video?
Some posts bundle audio inside the video file. When a platform exposes a separate audio stream, use the dedicated audio downloader on the Instagram or format tool page.
