How to copy a Vimeo link — step by step
- 01
Open the public Vimeo video or embedded player
Open the video on vimeo.com in your mobile or desktop browser, or locate the embedded player.vimeo.com player on a third-party page.
- 02
Copy the video, unlisted hash, or embed URL
Copy vimeo.com/{id} from the address bar or Share dialog, or copy the player.vimeo.com/video/{id} embed URL.
- 03
Keep any unlisted privacy hash intact
If the link is unlisted (vimeo.com/{id}/{hash} or ?h={hash}), keep the 10-character hash in the copied URL.
- 04
Paste on www.smdownloader.com
Paste the Vimeo URL into www.smdownloader.com and click Download to preview and save the 1080p or 720p MP4 with stereo audio.

Standard, unlisted hash, and embed Vimeo URLs
SMDownloader accepts standard https://vimeo.com/{id} links, unlisted videos formatted as https://vimeo.com/{id}/{hash} or ?h={hash}, channel/group video URLs, and https://player.vimeo.com/video/{id} embeds.
Common questions
How do unlisted Vimeo links with a privacy hash work?
Unlisted Vimeo videos include a second path segment (vimeo.com/123456789/abcdef1234) or an ?h=abcdef1234 query parameter. Keep that hash when copying so our servers can fetch the player config.
Can I copy a player.vimeo.com embed URL from another website?
Yes. Copy the player.vimeo.com/video/{id} URL (including ?h= if present) from the embed iframe or Share overlay and paste it into SMDownloader.
Why do password-protected or domain-locked Vimeo embeds fail?
Videos that require a viewer password, Vimeo On Demand purchase, or strict domain-level referer lock are private and cannot be downloaded.
