Copy an X post link for downloading.

Grab the exact status URL from the share menu or browser bar.

    Open the public post on X

    Go to x.com or twitter.com and open the post with the video, image, or GIF you want to save. The address bar should include /status/ and a numeric post ID.

    Copy the post URL

    On mobile, tap Share under the post, then Copy link. On desktop, copy the URL from the browser address bar or use Share → Copy link.

    Keep the status link

    Paste the exact post URL — not a profile, search, or hashtag page. Both x.com and twitter.com links work, including short tracking parameters like ?s=20.

    Paste into SMDownloader

    Open SMDownloader, paste the copied URL into the download field, and click Extract. Preview the media, then click Download to save it.

Quote tweets and GIFs

If media is in a quoted post, open that original post and copy its status URL. GIFs on X save as MP4 files — the preview will show them as video.
